FTGT Turns 2!

As the title indicates, today the blog officially turns two! As I said last year, I am amazed with how far the blog has come and I couldn't have done it alone. So thanks to Chandler, Ron, and Bryan for helping out with posts and the podcast. Also thanks to all the guests we've had on the podcast in the first 20 episodes, including Sean Nayden on our most recent podcast. Last but definitely not least, thank you to all the readers, contributors, and commenters. It's always great to hear back on what we're putting out and seeing what you guys are doing as well.

As with last year, I'd like to indulge in looking at my collections and see how they've changed in the last year, and how I'm progressing at facing down my Grey Tide.

So, looking at the overall, it's pretty clear that I added to the Tyranids and Necrons pretty heavily last year. I've still been dragging my feet on selling off the Dark Eldar, as well as the remaining fantasy stuff. I also wanted to do a quick look at my painting progress this year as that is a bit more relevant, at least to me.

Army/Faction/Game
% of Collection (by model count)
% Painted (by model count)
Tyranids
28.6%
30%
Dark Eldar
8.6%
13%
Orks
15.4%
27%
Tau
10.1%
13%
Necrons
9.6%
57%
Eldar
10.0%
14%
Space Marines
3.9%
0%
MYTH
11.9%
16%
Gremlins (Malifaux)
0.9%
0%
Neverborn (Malifaux)
0.5%
17%

For this list, for both percentage columns I omitted the Fantasy models since I don't have an accurate count and I don't plan on expanding or updating either of my two remaining armies. My goals for 40k are, per my 2015 Resolutions, have 25% of all my 40k models painted (achieved for now - standing at 26%); have 50% of Tyranids by points painted (at 44%); as well has a new resolution, get my Necrons back to ~90% painted, since I about doubled the army. I also look to build out my Gremlins and get them 100% painted or very close to it. Finally, considering I backed an expansion for MYTH (even though I don't believe it will ship until sometime next year), I'd like to get most of the MYTH minis painted up.

Back into the state of the blog - thank you again to everyone who checks us out on a regular basis. Again, we love hearing from you, be it positive or a constructive criticism of something we may get wrong or do poorly. The blog grew a lot in the last year, with 64% of our total page views coming in the last 12 months. This was admittedly in part due to a huge November thanks to Shield of Baal leaks, which accounted for nearly 10% of our total page views for all time.

Thanks again for helping the blog be successful by checking us out regularly, commenting, and coming to say hi at events. We're holding a design contest for our next set of shirts and they'll be available to order toward the end of May/beginning of June. Keep your eyes peeled for more info on that. Thanks everybody for two great years at FTGT.
